STEELAB SAA range – Sheet metal, made-to-measure, assembled planter without welding
SAA Assembled planter description
Assembled aluminium planter made up of panels clipped together without welding, creating a neatly finished monolithic planter. All our STEELAB planters are made in France to your dimensions.
The base of the planter rests on concealed load-distribution pads. And the side panels are supported and held by this base, without any contact with the ground.
They are joined together at the mitre for 3mm aluminium and laterally for greater thicknesses. An EPDM foam gasket ensures watertightness.
Fasteners ensure positioning and clamping. A single locking screw secures each assembly. This whole assembly is concealed inside the planter. The panels are folded on all four sides. The top edge is treated with a fold and counter-fold, the dimensions of which are adjusted according to the format of the plant tray. At last, the bottom fold forms a hollow joint with the floor. Its slightly open angle directs water run-off towards the underside of the tray.
Finishes
The side panels are painted before assembly, on their external faces and extended returns. Two finishes are available, depending on the constraints of the project:
– Liquid paint – Pickling / Epoxy primer / Polyurethane finish and varnish;
– Powder coating – Pickling / Epoxy primer / Polyester finish.
The SAA range offers a meticulous finish, with joints that have no visible fasteners and notches that have been carefully treated for an optimum finish.
Materials
The SAA range of assembled planters is made from 3 or 4mm aluminium, depending on the size. Aluminium is a naturally strong, light and durable material, making it an ideal choice for planters.
Variations are available in Z275 galvanised steel, Magnelis®, stainless steel or Corten®.
Water management
The base is draining, with water evacuated underneath the planter around its perimeter.
As an option, various horticultural systems are available offering a good drainage and a water reserve.
Side wall insulation can be added to slow down heat exchange of the metal walls, thereby limiting water evaporation.
Installation
The bins are delivered assembled. However, if access is a problem, they can be supplied dismantled for on-site assembly.
They are installed with a distributed load. Anti-puncture pads concealed under the planter are provided for this purpose.
As an option, they can be fitted with adjustable feet or castors. These can be concealed or visible, as required (see pictures on side).
